Kissing gate
Aww how could someone love a livestock gate. I do, I love this gate. Newbie farmer in New England I had installed a beautifully crafted wooden gate when setting up a sheep paddock. Disaster. Onset of winter that year brought heavy snow fall totals and a beautiful wooden gate that wouldn't budge as it sat mostly frozen in place. Variable temperatures, freeze, thaw, refreeze made my beautifully crafted wooden gate a failure. Most of that winter I spent scaling the fence to feed the sheep. Hauling a water bucket over the fence was not happy making and not pretty.
Enter the kissing gate. Based upon livestock gates in rural England and Ireland the gate of my farmer dreams was built. A thing of beauty, and it works. Gate panel on left swings between panels on right, kissing them. All times of the year easy to enter with feed, hay, water, etc and keep the errant livestock inside the paddock. Best of all it never freezes to the ground. I love this gate.
